 What is my validation type?
Article According to payment brand rules, all merchants and their service providers are required to comply with the PCI Data Security Standard in its entirety. There are five SAQ Validation Types. Use the descriptions below to determine your Validation type.


Validation Type 1: Your transaction processing is card-not-present (e-commerce or mail/telephone-order). All cardholder data functions are outsourced. You do not see customers face-to-face. You do not store cardholder data electronically. Complete SAQ A for your compliance needs.

Validation Type 2: Your transaction processing is done using an imprint-only device. You do not store cardholder data electronically. Complete SAQ B for your compliance needs.

Validation Type 3: Your transaction processing is done using a stand-alone terminal connected to a phone line. You do not store cardholder data electronically. Complete SAQ B for your compliance needs.

Validation Type 4: Your transaction processing is done using a POS system connected to the Internet. You are not using the POS system for any other functions. You do not store cardholder data electronically. Complete SAQ C for your compliance needs.

Validation Type 5: All other merchants who are not classified as Validation 1 through 4. and all service providers. Complete SAQ D for you compliance needs.
